Ingredients:
1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
4 large eggs, at room temperature
1-2 oz red food coloring (optional)
4 tsp pure vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
6 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 tsp salt
Directions: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a 9 X 13 baking pan. Mix brown sugar, sugar and butter in the bowl of a standing mixer with the paddle attachment until light and fluffy, about two minutes. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well in between. Add red food coloring and vanilla until the color is mixed in evenly. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, cocoa and salt. Slowly add this into the mixing bowl. Do not over mix. The batter will be very thick. Remove the bowl and make sure the batter is evenly mixed and the batter is a uniform red color. Pour the batter into the pan and cook for 30-40 minutes. A crust will form on the top layer. Cool, and cut and serve.
