The Southern version of a Maraschino cherry.

Ingredients
- 2 cups bourbon
- 1 cup Coca-Cola
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 pound red cherries
Instructions
- In a large pot over medium heat, combine bourbon, Coke and sugar. Bring to a soft boil, stirring occasionally, and cook for 10-15 minutes, or until reduced to half the volume.
- Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature. In the meanwhile, remove stems and pits from rinsed cherries using a metal straw.
- Transfer cherries to a large jar, and pour the syrup over the cherries. Store in the refrigerator, and serve on sundaes or as a garnish on cocktails.
